Launching a new website is never an easy task. In this case it was no different. Every project comes with its own set of requirements. The one requirement that this project had that stood out loudest among the rest was that it need to be live as quick as possible. The previous site was falling apart and was loosing customers faster than it could gain them. So it was apparent that we needed to abandon ship as quickly as possible.
In this case our od site was built on Magento which I believe is one of the better e-commerce platforms in regards to handling product data. Though magento is a beast in reagards to optimization and developmet. Which can take quite a bit of time to get the site live. Since time was not an option, we determined that a platform migration to Shopify would be a the best option as Shopify is incredibly easy to set up and launch in a timely manner.
The biggest hurdle for this project was migrating the product data from one platform to the othee. Since the data is in completely different format. I had to conduct extensive research to make sure the data I was working with was manipulated properly.
All and all the launch wen't very well considering the condensed time table we were working with.
